I worked for a long time. I have worked on the Aleutian Islands. I was doing seismic drilling for 30-40 years—here at Red Dog, too—and I retired from that, but they keep calling from Red Dog saying I should come back to work! But I tell them, “I am retired!” (Laughs)
My dad used to let me go hunt with dog teams. We would stay out for a week or two weeks. Now I like to stay home and go fishing once and awhile. I get cold really easy now, no more exercise! (Laughs)— Victor Onalik Sr. is Inupiaq from Noatak, Alaska.
